New Property Profile Accounts. When verifying the identity of the person who is opening or inquiring about an account, reasonable procedures may include owner’s name, address, and phone number and, for in-person verification, checking a current government-issued identification card, like a driver’s license or passport. Depending on the circumstances, owners may be asked to provide information known or should be known from sources like a real estate agent, title company, attorney, or personal reference listed.
Existing Accounts. To detect red flags for existing accounts, your program may include reasonable procedures to confirm the identity of the owner. At no time will a Company representative ask for personal information — like a Social Security number, date of birth, mother’s maiden name, or mailing address.
The company may use multi-factor authentication techniques, passwords and biometric identification. In the case of suspected fraud transactions may be recorded or monitored to identify any behavior that indicates the possibility of fraud and identity theft.
In the event of suspected fraud or a scam the Company reserves the right to notify the owner, law enforcement, or other agencies necessary to review available records for legal evaluation of any risk.
If it is deemed to be fraudulent or scam activity the Company shall respond appropriately depending on the degree of risk posed. It may take legal action to resolve the problem including terminating service.
Notification. As an educational service provider the Company shall notify the owner of any known activity that could result or is an attempt of identity theft. It is up to the owner to determine if the event is of concern and whether the proper authorities should be contacted. We do suggest in addressing the risk of identity theft or as an owner impostor; which is often how scammers try to sell, change ownership, transfer title, of refinance a property, that one ought contact their local police department or following resources for assistance in handling the situation.
